Bevrijdingsshirt | Eerbetoon aan de Canadese bevrijders

15 april 2025. Op deze datum is het precies 80 jaar geleden dat de stad Leeuwarden werd bevrijd van de Duitse overheersing. Via de Groningerstraatweg kwamen de Royal Canadian Dragoons Leeuwarden binnen en was de Bevrijding een feit en een groot volksfeest het logische gevolg.

Rondom de wedstrijd SC Cambuur – Vitesse zullen we uitgebreid stilstaan bij deze historische gebeurtenis en zal SC Cambuur aantreden in een speciaal tenue, gebaseerd op het klassieke uniform van de Royal Canadian Dragoons en met de karakteristieke Canadese Maple Leaf als patroon in het shirt. Om de helden te eren die voor onze vrijheid hebben gevochten en de belangrijke boodschap te verkondigen dat vrijheid niet vanzelfsprekend is.

Het Bevrijdingsshirt van adidas en SC Cambuur is slechts in beperkte oplage beschikbaar en verkrijgbaar voor € 80,- in de volwassen maten XS t/m 3XL.

Veteraan Jim Parks (100) was onderdeel van The Royal Winnipeg Rifles, het Canadese regiment dat na The Royal Canadian Dragoons Leeuwarden binnenkwam om de stad te bevrijden.

April 15, 2025. On this date, it will be exactly 80 years since the city of Leeuwarden was liberated from German occupation. The Royal Canadian Dragoons entered Leeuwarden via the Groningerstraatweg, and the Liberation became a reality, followed by a large public celebration.

Around the match SC Cambuur – Vitesse, we will take time to reflect on this historic event. SC Cambuur will wear a special kit, inspired by the classic uniform of the Royal Canadian Dragoons, featuring the iconic Canadian Maple Leaf pattern on the shirt. This is to honor the heroes who fought for our freedom and to convey the important message that freedom is not something to be taken for granted.
